Attendance at the field days has demonstrated our willingness to exhibit our kelpies to potential clients and the general public. Field days are a very alien environment for a working dog, there are many distractions and confronting situations. The noise of machinery, vehicles, people and the public address system just to name a few, can be very stressful for a dog, particularly young pups. They also have strangers constantly approaching them. They are expected to provide an intelligent demonstration in a very confined space.

INVITATIONAL & PROMOTIONAL FUNCTIONS WE HAVE ATTENDED:

A lunchtime Melbourne Sheep Show promotion working the dogs in the Collins Street Square at Melbourne.

A working sheepdog demonstration at Werribee Park as before dinner entertainment for an international Dental Congress with delegates from over 70 nationalities attending.

In 1981 we as part of a small committee were involved in the running of the National Kelpie Trial at Mortlake,Vic. There were some changes to the national trial at this time with a greater emphasis on yard work being included in the trial. It was very successful because of the large numbers of sheep available.

At the Hamilton Working Kelpie Trial ion 1984, a pup Kirkcaldy Fred came 2nd in the junior puppy trial.

Demonstrations and livestock handling training sessions on property and at Glenormistion Agricultural College, Marcus Oldham Farm Agricultural College, Dookie Agricultural College for students and other interested people.
